Essential Factors for Successful Tree and Shrub Planting

1. Selecting the Right Species for Optimal Growth

When planting new native trees and shrubs, choosing the right species for the specific location is crucial. Consider the potential growth of the tree, including the reach of its limbs and the extent of its root system, which could potentially impact nearby infrastructures. We can ensure a harmonious integration with the surrounding environment by selecting the appropriate species

2. Following Established Planting Standards

At Marula Tree Management, we adhere to the ANSI A300 Planting Standards that have been developed through years of research and learning from the mistakes made in the past. These standards are our guiding principles, providing the best practices for planting trees and shrubs. By following these guidelines closely, we can establish a solid foundation for your plants' long-term health and vitality.

3. Providing Ongoing Care for Optimal Establishment

After planting, providing proper care during the initial 3 to 5 years is crucial. This critical period sets the stage for the future growth and survival of the plants. In general, smaller plants tend to be more successful in installation. When planting larger containerized or balled and burlapped trees, we often encounter challenges related to their root systems, which can negatively impact the tree's health for years. Every inch of a tree planted may take a year or more to recover fully.

“Very professional. We had three tree stumps removed and two beautiful Dogwood trees planted. Their crew did it quickly, professionally and left everything clean and looking good. We could not ask for more.” -- Martin S.
